The Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore plans to invest up to SGD 900 million over the next eight years to enhance the public bus network through the new ‘Bus Connectivity Enhancement Programme.’
This initiative, developed in consultation with Grassroots Advisers, aims to improve bus services by adding more trips, adjusting routes, and introducing new services.
As Singapore’s rail network expands with new stations and lines like the Circle Line, Jurong Region Line (JRL), and Cross Island Line (CRL), public buses will play a crucial role in providing convenient access to the rail system and offering alternative travel options.
The goal is to ensure that 8 in 10 households are within a 10-minute walk from a train station.
The LTA also aims to address changing travel patterns and increased demand for bus services, especially in newer housing estates and mature areas with growing populations.
