Sherry Jiang, the 32-year-old founder and CEO of the personal finance platform Peek, left her job at Google in 2021 to pursue her entrepreneurial ambitions. Based in Singapore, Jiang now leads a team of eight and has adapted her lifestyle to balance the demands of startup life with personal well-being.
On a typical day, Jiang starts with a gym session before heading to her hybrid office, where the team works in-person twice a week. She prioritizes exercise and sleep, a shift from her earlier “work-around-the-clock” mindset, influenced by the book “Why We Sleep.”
Jiang spends much of her day interacting with Peek’s users via WhatsApp, managing up to 50 messages daily. This direct feedback helps her refine the platform and engage with her customer base.

She also allocates time to LinkedIn for networking and generating leads, and her evenings are reserved for administrative tasks and catching up on communications.
Despite the relentless pace of startup life, Jiang enforces boundaries to maintain a work-life balance. She takes Saturdays off from work and reserves Thursday evenings for personal time with her partner, ensuring they can unwind and avoid work-related discussions. Sundays are dedicated to deep, uninterrupted work.
Jiang’s approach reflects a broader shift in the startup culture, emphasizing self-care and effective time management while navigating the high demands of leading a growing company.
