Dyson implements surprise layoffs in Singapore

Dyson conducted unexpected layoffs in its Singapore office on Oct 1, affecting employees in manufacturing and procurement.

The discreet retrenchment process, where staff received one-on-one meeting notices, left employees shocked and morale low. Some workers reported seeing colleagues suddenlyDyson had previously conducted a round of layoffs in Johor Bahru where it has a development centre leaving with bags, heightening concerns of further layoffs.

This follows a previous restructuring in the UK, though Singapore was initially thought to be unaffected. Employees remain uncertain about their job security, fearing additional cuts similar to the staggered layoffs seen in Britain earlier this year. The office atmosphere has been described as “solemn” and tense.

Those laid off were from the manufacturing and procurement departments, said another employee who also spoke to CNA anonymously. Both are unsure how many employees were let go on Tuesday.
