Singapore Eases Hiring Rules, Hawkers Can Hire LTVP Holders

Singapore has eased hiring restrictions for hawkers, allowing them to employ Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) holders as stall assistants starting January 2025. This change is expected to help alleviate the ongoing manpower shortage faced by hawkers, who currently struggle to hire Singaporeans and permanent residents due to the physically demanding nature of the job. While the new policy broadens the pool of potential workers, many hawkers remain uncertain about its overall impact on the manpower crunch, citing the limited number of LTVP holders and ongoing challenges with high staff turnover and rising costs.​
