Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said that economic growth will not happen without jobs even as artificial intelligence (AI) reshapes the economy, delivering his closing remarks in Parliament following Budget 2026 debates.

Wong highlighted government plans to harness AI to expand the economy while ensuring that such growth creates high-quality employment and higher incomes for Singaporeans.
He also mentioned the National AI Council’s role in guiding AI initiatives across manufacturing, connectivity, finance, and healthcare sectors.
