SINGAPORE, March 29 — Prime Minister Lawrence Wong is on a four-day trip to Hainan and Hong Kong from March 25 to 28, marking his second visit to China in nine months. In Hainan, he delivered a keynote speech at the Boao Forum for Asia’s opening plenary, stressing China’s growing role in shaping a resilient global order.

Wong highlighted China’s focus on science, technology, and innovation as central to its development strategy, positioning the country to lead future technological waves. He reaffirmed Singapore’s confidence in China’s long-term prospects, noting Singapore has been a leading source of new investments into China for over a decade. Wong emphasized continued collaboration in green and digital economies, underscoring mutual benefits for both nations.
Strong bilateral ties
He also met National People’s Congress Chairman Zhao Leji, reaffirming strong bilateral ties and exploring forward-looking cooperation. The Boao Forum’s 2026 theme centers on multilateralism, innovation, and shared growth.
