Singapore and Malaysia will expand cross‑border taxi services from May 4, offering travellers more flexibility and fair competition. Licensed taxis can drop passengers anywhere in Singapore and in Johor Bahru, Iskandar Puteri, Forest City, Kulai, and Senai, while pickups are limited to three designated points via e‑hailing.
Special Livery and ERP2 Required for Taxi Services
Both governments will raise quotas to 300 taxis each, with plans for 500, and introduce larger vehicles for families and business travellers. To curb illegal services, taxis must carry special livery, signage, and be under 10 years old. Officials said the move strengthens bilateral ties and improves Causeway connectivity.
