OCBC customers can now claim dining, shopping and travel vouchers in the bank’s app and use them when paying by QR code overseas, after the bank announced the launch of Alipay+ Travel Treat on Wednesday (Oct 28).
OCBC said it is the first Singapore bank to offer in-app travel rewards and vouchers for overseas QR payments. The feature is run with Alipay+, the unified wallet gateway of Ant International.
More than 200 deals at launch
The initial phase covers more than 200 merchant deals across seven destinations: mainland China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia and Thailand. Participating merchants named by the bank include Shake Shack, Matsuya Food, The Shilla Duty-Free, 7-Eleven, and the Suria KLCC and TRX malls in Kuala Lumpur.
Customers can claim vouchers before their trip. These are then applied automatically when they pay at participating Alipay+ merchants. To access the offers, users log in to the OCBC app, tap “Rewards” and select “Alipay+ Travel Treat” under “Deals”, then claim the vouchers they want. Claimed vouchers appear under “My vouchers” and are used by completing an Alipay+ QR transaction.
Overseas QR use more than doubled
OCBC and Alipay+ have worked together since 2023. Payments through the OCBC app can reach merchants in more than 55 destinations, the bank said.
In the first eight months of 2026, both the number of OCBC app customers scanning and paying at Alipay+ merchants overseas and the value of their transactions more than doubled from the same period in 2025, according to the release.
“Customers value convenience as much as savings when they travel,” said Regina Lim, OCBC’s head of group card payments and personal loans.
Edward Yue, general manager of the Alipay+ Global Power Center at Ant International, said customers increasingly expect their mobile apps to do more than handle transactions.
What’s next
OCBC described the current offers as an initial phase, with more to come. The bank said travel services such as ride-hailing and food delivery could be embedded in the app in future, but did not give a timeline.
