Singapore will invest over $1 billion between 2025 and 2030 to strengthen public artificial intelligence research under the National AI Research and Development (NAIRD) Plan, the Ministry of Digital Development and Information announced.
Singapore Commits to AI Research
Minister Josephine Teo revealed the initiative at the Singapore AI Research Week Gala Dinner, highlighting the creation of AI research centres of excellence to tackle challenges such as energy and water demands.
The plan, part of NAIS 2.0, focuses on fundamental research, applied AI, and talent development. Efforts include scholarships, Olympiad training, and visiting professorships, while also attracting global AI startups to establish research teams in Singapore.
